I’ve been thinking alot about how I might be able to make films as fast as thought, or as immediate and simultaneous as when thoughts arise a film is already in process. The film is finished at the moment the camera is put down, there is no editing after, there is no refinement in post. Everything occurs in-camera, the images, the voice over, the montage is committed by impulse without the possibility to undo.

These freestyled cuts are performed as fast as Dj Q-Bert via Vertov. I want to make films as fast as Madlib who I consider an artist that works on archives rather than albums. Likewise, this collection is in no form a portfolio of finished works. It is not about any singular film but rather to excercise of routine of play.

When making these films, I avoid thinking of their future. I try to think of them as student films without the speculation of possibly premiering on a big screen. This is helped by capturing at low resolutions like 480p or 720p. The small file sizes give them mobility too, and are passed between devices with such ease through airdrop or messaging apps. I imagine that in their tinyness, they slip through systems of surveillance undetected.

My intention here is to cultivate my own place to post autonomously outside the central algorithmic regimes that occupy large portions of the contemporary psyche. By inhabiting this site that I constructed in cyberspace, I am alone in my archive/laboratory of images.
